The Uttar Pradesh Police (UP Police) is the primary law enforcement agency within the Uttar Pradesh state of India. Established in 1863 as the Office of the Inspector General of Police, United Provinces under the Police Act, 1861. The UP police employ around 1,368 gazetted officers, and 2,31,443 non gazetted uniformed officers. Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB) is responsible for the recruitment of candidates to various posts of UP Police.
UP Police Syllabus is released for various posts such as Sub Inspector (SI), Constable, Platoon Commander, Fireman, Driver, Jail Warden and other posts. The syllabus for all these posts is similar. The selection of candidates will be done mainly on the basis of the written examination, verification of documents and physical standard tests, physical fitness test and selection and final qualification lists. The candidates who will qualify the required phases of the examination will then be appointed for the approved post.

Candidates who are the dependents of freedom fighters must possess a certificate issued by the state government in the approved format.
Ex-servicemen must possess unit discharge certificate, no objection certificate by the unit commandant, Indian special army certificate of education issued.
District commandant, home guards must have an issued service certificate. The home guard should have completed at least 3 years of service as on the last date of application
Certificate in support of the age relaxation should have been issued by the working staff of Uttar Pradesh state.
