SSC (Staff Selection Commission) conducts SSC GD Constable recruitment to recruit eligible candidates for the posts of Constable (General Duty) in Border Security Force (BSF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Secretariat Security Force (SSF) and Rifleman (General Duty) in Assam Rifles.

The selection criteria of SSC GD consists of following steps: Computer-based Examination (CBE), Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Physical Standard Test (PST) and Detailed Medical Examination (DME).
The computer-based examination is carried out in an online mode
There is no negative marking for wrong answers in CBE
Candidates who clear CBE are eligible to appear for PET and PST
As a final, a detailed medical examination is carried out by a senior official.

The minimum basic salary of a SSC GD constable is INR 21,700. Various other payments are added to this salary in the form of allowances and perks which are to be paid to the constable.
